Ramrit Rai is now a happy 7th grade student in the Orange county school system, but until just recently that was far from the case.
Ramrit entered the Orange county school system in 5th grade and shortly after began suffering from severe harassment from some of his fellow students. Gradually the harassment became worse and worse. Ramrit began to get headaches and show other stress related symptoms.
The taunting and bullying from these classmates included verbal abuse being call Usama's kid and terrorist, pushing, threats and being pushed out of the boys restroom and told to use the girls restroom because of his long hair.
When these issues were taken to his teacher and the school's principal minimal and ineffective efforts were made to resolve the situation.
When it became time for Ramrit to continue on to Junior High School out of desperation Ramrits parents asked the school to transfer Ramrit to a different school so that he would not be forced to continue being harassed by the same individuals that would be moved into the same school as his.
These requests were denied over and over again until the CSC stepped in to speak on behalf of the child and the family. With the spotlight now being shown on the school board for there lack of protection of this child the issue was soon resolved and a transfer granted.
We are happy to say Ramrit is doing very well in his new school and able to continue his education in a healthy and positive environment.
