The California Sikh Council successfully approached several major Southern California Hospitals recently regarding spiritual and cultural awareness training for it's clergy and pastoral care givers regarding the Sikh faith and how to support Sikhs that may become patients at their facilities.

The first hospital that enthusiastically embraced this opportunity to provide better support for its patients was Long Beach Memorial. The training there was very successful and resulted in the hospitals desire to add NitNems and Gurbani CDs to its religious library that it makes available to patients and clergy.

USC and UCLA medical centers as well as Northridge hospital have also expressed interest in scheduling training events. The CSC is in the process of reaching out to all the major medical facilities in southern California and soon plans to expand to northern California.
